My brother-in-law told me that he had given out our adoption card to one of his co-workers who knows someone that is placing her baby for adoption. Of course we are not sure if something will come of this, but this is exactly how networking works. It is encouraging to see something happening when nothing has happened for so long. Really opportunities could arise anywhere. Private adoption would actually be preferable to us because it is definitely less expensive and we feel like there are usually less risks involved with the birth mothers.
Speaking of cost, many people have no idea what adoption cost. Agency adoptions are easily three times the cost of private. Typically for an agency adoption you are looking at $30,000 where private typically tops out at around $10,000. I'm sure some of you may be shocked to find out this information. Obviously this is a huge reason why we would rather find a birth mother on our own.
Some of you may wonder what I am talking about when I stated that my brother-in-law passed out our adoption card. A picture of our card is on this blog. If anyone would like any please let me know. This just gives you a way to hand out our information easily if you come across a situation.
Thanks for the support everyone and keep your fingers crossed for us on this recent possible situation.
